2 new Everett bars join waterfront restaurant row project

Our latest roll call of Western Washington bar openings brings us a new $1 wing night, world-class merlot and a game room that's so large it deserves its own ZIP code.

But the place to be this spring - especially for al fresco drinking (remember to bring your shade and sunscreen) - is in Everett.

The Port of Everett Marina is filling a restaurant row on Seiner Drive along a scenic 4-mile walking trail and marina esplanade. New drinks along the waterfront: a wine bar and a taproom just opened, with the popular Eastside tequila bar Marina Azul Cocina & Cantina joining this block party soon. Details below.

Tapped at The Port

1420 Seiner Drive, Suite 200, Everett; 425-374-7546, tappedpublichouse.com/at-the-port

This second-floor taproom boasts panoramic views of the marina, the Olympic Mountains and Possession Sound. If you can't score the prime real estate on the deck, the good news is that its floor-to-ceiling, garage-style doors will roll up on nice days to welcome the breeze. This 278-seat taproom features about 30 craft beers on tap. It also features the usual maritime bar-food menu of fish and chips, crab rolls and seafood chowder (though regulars have steered toward the smash burgers, the prime rib dip and the giant salads).

Rustic Cork at The Port

1420 Seiner Drive, Suite 101, Everett; 425-666-0380, rusticcorkwinebar.com

This wine bar chain (also in Lake Stevens, with a soon-to-close location in Mill Creek) features a wine list focused on the Yakima and Columbia valleys to sip on a heated, dog-friendly patio. Its large selection of wines by the glass showcases reds from Woodinville's Mark Ryan Winery and Walla Walla Vintners. Go on Wine Wednesdays, when half-off wine bottles can be paired with charcuterie and cheese plates. Starting in May, management said Rustic Cork's upstairs barrel room will be open to the public when it's not rented out for weddings and corporate parties.

Hal's Sports Bar

14481 Redmond-Woodinville Road N.E., Woodinville; 425-286-8408, halssportsbar.com

Just in time for baseball season, NBA and NHL playoffs and the FIFA World Cup in June and July, Woodinville gets a new sports bar from the Heavy Restaurant Group, which is behind popular brands like the Purple Café & Wine Bar chain and the late agave bar Barrio. Hal's boasts a dozen TVs and will show World Cup matches, Mariners games and more with the volume up. You can also watch on the patio, where there are picnic tables and a fire pit. Come on Wednesdays, when wings are only a buck apiece. For those who groan about early last calls around town, Hal's runs happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. to midnight, with $8 drink specials and some bar bites under $15.

Northstar Tasting Salon

14111 N.E. 145th St., Woodinville; 425-488-1133; northstarwinery.com/visiting/woodinville-salon

Walla Walla makes some of the best merlots in the country. One of its boldface names, Northstar Winery, now has a swanky tasting salon on the second floor of Chateau Ste. Michelle's tasting space. It's open only Wednesday through Sunday for now, but starting May 25, the tasting room will be open daily (11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday-Saturday). Want to sample the exclusive flight tasting of its rare wines? Offered only Fridays through Sundays at 3:30 p.m., that 75-minute tasting of rare vintages costs $50.

Lucky Strike

1222 164th St. S.W., Lynnwood; 425-743-4422; luckystrikeent.com/location/lucky-strike-lynnwood

This popular game room and bar chain expands to Lynnwood with an over-the-top, 36,250-square-foot facility that can hold 600 people. A big hit in downtown Bellevue, this Lynnwood expansion boasts 40 bowling lanes and a 30-game arcade area. The complex features a 21-and-older bar, but if you have your kiddos in tow, there's also a family-friendly lounge. Food includes just about every popular bar grub imaginable: pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, wings, nachos, pretzels and fries, with pitchers of beers and margaritas to wash that all down.
