Teen killed in South Seattle drive-by shooting
Homicide detectives are investigating the killing of a 19-year-old man who died Saturday, about one week after he was seriously injured in a South Seattle drive-by shooting.
Police responded May 8 shortly before midnight to reports of a person shot near 32nd Avenue South and South Chicago Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center and died eight days later from his injuries, according to a statement Monday by the Seattle Police Department.
Detectives suspect at least one person fired at the man's car multiple times near the Rainier Beach light rail station, then fled. Police found dozens of shell casings near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Henderson Street and impounded two vehicles.
Investigators have not said what led to the shooting or whether they have identified any suspects.
Police have not made any arrests, and did not release additional information Monday about the active investigation, according to an email Monday from police spokesperson Detective Eric Muñoz.
