According to estimates by the U.S. Census:

• 2.4 percent of Thurston County's residents are black or African American.
• 1.2 percent of Mason County's are black or African American.
• 0.5 percent of Thurston County's residents are Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.
• 0.4 percent of Mason County's residents are Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.
• 1.7 percent of Thurston County residents were reported as "some other race."
• 2.1 percent of Mason County residents were reported as "some other race."

Wanderer’s Hiking Club, has been hiking the trails of Washington since 1929. Group hikes every other week year-round, and meets each July for an ice cream social.
