Fueled by a six-run bottom of the second, the Pirates began their league title defense on a strong note with an 11-0, five-inning victory over the Vikings on Monday night at home.

Two days after getting the best of Warden and PWV, the Adna (7-1, 1-0 C2BL bats stayed hot with a 10-hit evening. Charlie Myers had two extra base hits and Alyssa Caroll launched a leadoff solo home run in the fourth.

Tieander Olson capped the six-run second with a bases-clearing double and Kimber Huber drove in two on a single to put the game into run-rule territory. Teagan Baggenstos went the distance for the Pirates, striking out three. Adna will battle arch rival Napavine on Thursday.

Mossyrock (3-5, 0-1) were shut out for the second time this spring. Taylor Schwartz, Calliope Schultz and Annika Ball all notched hits. The Vikings will play their final non-league game on Thursday versus Naselle.
