Orioles Announce Adley Rutschman News After 10 Missed Games

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman has had a fantastic start to his career in Major League Baseball. Playing in his fifth year in the majors, Rutschman has a career slash line of .255/.344/.413 with an OPS of .757, totaling 61 home runs and 233 RBIs in 515 games. He's made two All-Star Games and won one Silver Slugger Award during his time with Baltimore.

The 28-year-old catcher was the first overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Orioles and made his big-league debut in the 2022 season.

Rutschman has played just 10 games this season, as he was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left ankle inflammation on April 11.

In his 10 starts this season, Rutschman has batted .294 with an .855 OPS to go along with six doubles and three RBIs. He has not played since April 10, when he went 3-for-5 at the plate against the San Francisco Giants.

In recent days, Rutschman has progressed in his recovery, running the bases on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Orioles announced some exciting news for Rutschman and his fans, as they activated him from the IL.

"We have made the following roster moves: Reinstated C Adley Rutschman from the 10-day injured list," Baltimore said in a social media post.

Along with bringing Rutschman back from the injured list, the Orioles designated Sam Huff for assignment. Huff was filling in for the star catcher while he was on the shelf.

Rutschman's return is a big boost for a Baltimore team that has lost its past two series to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians. The Orioles take on the Kansas City Royals at 7:40 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium.
