Fans Worried About Victor Wembanyama After Scary Injury vs. Blazers

Basketball fans around the country are collectively holding their breath for an update on San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

Unfortunately, Wembanyama suffered a very scary injury during the second quarter of Game 2 against the Portland Trail Blazers. The injury occurred as he was backing down Trail Blazers guard Jrue Holiday.

Wembanyama, 22, lost control and slammed head first into the hardwood. He also bumped knees on the same play, but the main concern is that he may have suffered a concussion. After all, he was legitimately knocked out cold for a moment.

The medical staff for San Antonio rushed Wembanyama to the locker room after this foul occurred. As you'd imagine, NBA fans immediately expressed concern over this injury.

"Wemby might have a concussion going face first to hardwood like that," a fan wrote on X.

"Please let Wemby be okay," a second fan said.

"Wembanyama got his jaw checked by the hardwood he for real knocked himself out for a sec," another fan commented.

"Praying for Wemby," a social media user wrote.

This injury could shift the series in a major way.

Wembanyama is undoubtedly the most important player on the floor for the Trail Blazers-Spurs series. For starters, the former No. 1 pick came into the playoffs averaging 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Not only is Wembanyama a nightmare to guard, he's the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year. There aren't many holes in his game, that's for sure.

If Wembanyama has to miss time during this series, that could open the door for the Trail Blazers to possibly pull off the upset. For now though, the Spurs are still heavy favorites to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
