Jerry Jones Facing Scrutiny For Helping Eagles During NFL Draft

Although the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have a fierce rivalry on the field, that didn't prevent Jerry Jones from making a blockbuster trade with Howie Roseman during the first round of the NFL Draft.

After selecting Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the No. 11 overall pick, the Cowboys traded the No. 20 pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for No. 23 pick and a pair of fourth-round selections.

The Eagles used the No. 20 overall pick on USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, who had 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season of college football. He only had one drop despite being targeted 110 times this past fall.

Even though A.J. Brown hasn't been traded yet, Cowboys fans are convinced that Jerry Jones willingly handed the All-Pro's replacement to the Eagles.

"It's kind of like history repeats itself, I appreciate you Jerry Jones," an Eagles fan said. "This is the same way how we got DeVonta Smith 5 years ago."

"Dallas will never be a serious threat as long as Jerry serves as GM," a fan declared.

"Some Cowboys fan gotta tell Jerry to stop trading to the Eagles where a WR is available," a social media user wrote on X.

"Jerry Jones trading picks with the Eagles so the Eagles can beat the Cowboys easier is an amazing thing to watch," another fan commented.

Luckily for Cowboys fans, they still got themselves a productive defensive end with the 23rd pick in UCF's Malachi Lawrence.

The Cowboys and Eagles have history making Draft Day trades.

Back in 2021, the Cowboys traded the 10th overall pick to the Eagles in a move that landed them former Alabama star DeVonta Smith. The Cowboys then used the No. 12 pick on Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons.

Smith has been so efficient for the Eagles over the past five seasons, hauling in 385 passes for 5,019 yards and 31 touchdowns. Parsons, meanwhile, was the heart and soul of the Cowboys' defense before being traded for a pair of first-round picks.

Which team won Thursday night's trade? We'll have to let Lemon and Lawrence's rookie seasons play out.
