Final Injury Report for Sun-Liberty: Will Sabrina Ionescu, Aaliyah Edwards Play?

The New York Liberty are at home on Friday night as they host the Connecticut Sun in their 2026 WNBA season opener.

New York enters Friday's game looking to start the season off strong after finishing with the fifth-best record in the league last season before losing in three games in the first round of the playoffs to the Phoenix Mercury.

On the other side, Connecticut enters Friday's contest looking to put last season behind them after they finished with the third-worst record in the WNBA.

While both teams are looking to start off the 2026 season with a victory on Friday night, both squads may be without multiple key players due to injuries.

Sun Injury Report: Will Aaliyah Edwards Play?

For the Sun, they have four players listed on their injury report for Friday's game, including star forward Aaliyah Edwards.

Connecticut has ruled out Edwards due to a left thigh injury that also caused her to miss the final game of the preseason on Sunday.

The Sun have also ruled out Shey Peddy due to a lower left leg injury while Leila Lacan and Nell Angloma are both not with the team due to overseas obligations.

Liberty Injury Report: Will Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally Play?

On the other side, the Liberty have five players listed on their injury report, including both Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally.

New York has ruled out Ionescu due to a left foot injury that she suffered in Sunday's preseason finale and she is expected to miss at least two weeks with the injury.

The Liberty have also ruled out Sabally due to an illness and reconditioning as she will miss the first game of the new season.

Rebecca Allen has also been ruled out due to a left leg injury while Raquel Carrera and Leonie Fiebich are both not with the team due to overseas commitments.
