Caitlin Clark Accused Of 'Dirty Play' During Fever's Season Opener
Well, it didn't take long for Caitlin Clark to be at the center of a controversial play this WNBA season.
During the Indiana Fever's season opener against the Dallas Wings on Saturday, the referees hit Clark with an offensive foul. ESPN's camera crew showed a replay of Clark shoving Wings guard Aziaha James.
An argument can be made that James sold the shove, but we can't fault the refs for calling an offensive foul on Clark.
That being said, there are some WNBA fans who believe Clark committed a dirty play.
"Caitlin Clark is a DIRTY player," an Angel Reese fan wrote on X.
"Oh but I thought she was just an innocent baby constantly getting targeted by everyone," a second fan commented.
"She's always shoving players. Cant she get open without all the extra," another fan said.
"Pushing people unclassy," a social media user added.
Caitlin made WNBA history this Saturday.
Although it's not really a huge surprise, Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach at least 1,000 points, 250 rebounds and 250 rebounds. According to ESPN, she's only the eighth player to reach 1,000 career points within 54 career games.
Clark is also the fastest player to record 400 assists in the WNBA.
If we had to guess, this won't be the last time Clark makes history this season.
