President Trump Confirms He's Rooting For Knicks During NBA Playoffs
President Donald Trump is apparently keeping a close eye on the 2026 NBA playoffs.
On Tuesday afternoon, Trump spoke to Sid Rosenberg of 77 WABC about a plethora of topics, including the New York Knicks' dominant playoff run. They secured a spot in the Eastern Conference finals by sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round.
When asked about the NBA playoffs, Trump confirmed that he's rooting for the Knicks.
"I get along with Jim Dolan, I think he's a really good guy," Trump said. "Boy, some of these players have turned out to be great players. Philadelphia is a tough team - their center [Joel] Embiid is a big guy - and you thought those games would be good, but they were winning by 35 points. I really like Jim Dolan a lot. I'm really happy for him and the team."
Knicks fans weren't exactly thrilled about Trump's comments.
"We're cursed," a fan commented.
"Get out of my fanbase," a second fan replied.
"This is legitimately my worst nightmare," another fan said.
Will the Knicks finally win it all?
The Knicks haven't been to the NBA Finals since 1999. Their championship drought, meanwhile, dates back to 1973.
Although the Knicks still have a lot more work to do this postseason, there's no question they have what it takes to win it all this year.
Jalen Brunson has been outstanding when it matters most, Karl-Anthony Towns is truly evolving as a playmaker, and Mikal Bridges is starting to play his best basketball of the season.
