Youth Baseball Umpire Not Apologizing For Ejecting Coach In Viral Moment
A clip of a youth baseball umpire ejecting an angry head coach has amassed more than 6.6 million views on TikTok.
In the clip, umpire Jameson Morris was talking with a coach of a youth baseball team in Potlatch, Idaho. The head coach was upset about music being played by another team (used for walkup songs). The song was Rob Zombie's "Never Gonna Stop."
Morris defended the youth baseball team's right to play walkup music, making it clear that no profane or inappropriate language were used in the songs.
"I have not heard a single inappropriate word. Coach, you're either going back to the dugout or you can forfeit, that's your choice," he stated calmly in the clip that has since gone viral.
The coach, though, would not back down. He demanded to speak to a youth baseball umpiring "coordinator." Morris said that would not happen, but they could call the police if the coach wanted. Morris then implored the coach to go back to his dugout, though he refused. Morris then ejected the head coach, who quickly pulled his team off the field and forfeited.

Morris, a high schooler, has been umpiring youth baseball games for a while. However, as he told Keith Law of The Athletic, this was his first time ever ejecting anyone.
"It was my first time ever ejecting anybody! It's hard for people to understand the small side of baseball. My coaches allow me to leave practice early to go ump games down at our field. It's just rec ball, small ball, so I don't deal with much," he said in the interview.
Morris added that umpiring youth baseball games has made him more understanding when playing the game. He's not apologizing for ejecting the coach, though.
"It has changed my thoughts. Being behind the plate for four years now, as an ump, you're not benefiting any team; you're looking at it from both ways. I've gotten to understand the game even more. I've been playing baseball since I was six years old, so for 12 years. I've seen a lot of baseball, and obviously, I've argued with umps in the past. Now I see where they're coming from, so I try not to talk back as much.

The umpire set a great example of everyone around him. The coach, on the other hand...
