Where Will Pep Guardiola Go After Leaving Manchester City? Next Career Move Revealed

After a historic decade at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is officially stepping down as manager this summer, bringing an end to one of the greatest managerial eras football has ever seen.

The Catalan coach arrived at City in 2016 and transformed the club into a global powerhouse, winning 20 major trophies and rewriting English football's record books along the way.

Guardiola leaves Manchester City as the most successful manager in club history. His achievements include:

  • 6 Premier League titles
  • 1 UEFA Champions League
  • 3 FA Cups
  • 5 League Cups
  • A FIFA Club World Cup
  • A UEFA Super Cup
  • 3 Community Shields

But the trophies only tell part of the story. Under Guardiola, City had the first 100-point season in Premier League history during the 2017/18 campaign, setting records for goals scored, victories, goal difference, and winning margin.

Then came the historic Treble-winning season of 2022/23, when City captured the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

His final season ended fittingly with more silverware, as City lifted both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup before Guardiola's farewell. His departure from the touchline defines the end of an era, but Guardiola is not walking away from the City project completely.

Pep Guardiola's next career move

Rather than immediately taking another high-pressure coaching job, Guardiola is ready for a different chapter. One that keeps him connected to football without the relentless demands of weekly management.

Although Guardiola will no longer manage Manchester City, he will still be part of the wider City Football Group organization in a new role as Global Ambassador.

The position will allow him to continue influencing football operations across the CFG network, offering technical advice, collaborating on special projects, and helping guide clubs within the group's global structure.

In an emotional farewell message, Guardiola explained that his decision was driven not by conflict or burnout, but by a personal feeling that the moment had arrived to move on. "Don't ask me the reasons I'm leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it's my time," Guardiola said.

"Nothing is eternal. If it was, I would be here."

The 55-year-old talked about his deep connection with Manchester, describing the city as a place built on hard work and unity. Values he felt became embedded within his teams during his time at the club.

Guardiola also spoke about the moments beyond football, including the support he received from the Manchester community after the Arena attack and during the COVID pandemic following the loss of his mother.

For now, however, Guardiola seems focused on stepping away from the intensity of the dugout while remaining connected to the club he helped revolutionize. As he told the fans in his farewell message: "It has been so fun. Love you all."
