Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley hired by Vikings as GM, source says

The Minnesota Vikings are hiring Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley as their new general manager, The Seattle Times confirmed Saturday. The news was initially broken in reports from the NFL Network and ESPN.

Teasley, 42, has been with the Seahawks since 2013 in a variety of roles and completed his third season in 2025 as the assistant GM under general manager and president of football operations John Schneider, with Seattle finishing 14-3 and beating New England in the Super Bowl.

He is expected to be officially announced as the Vikings new GM in a press conference early next week.

Teasley is an Ellensburg resident who played football as a running back at Central Washington University.

The hiring puts the Seahawks in line to receive third-round picks in each of the next two drafts for the Vikings' hiring of Teasley as part of the league's diversity and inclusion program, or Rooney Rule.

That could give the Seahawks up to 12 picks in the 2027 draft as they are already expected to get up to four additional picks as compensation for free agents lost this year, notably running back Kenneth Walker III. Those picks will be announced next spring prior to the draft.

Teasley began his career as an intern with the Seahawks in 2013 and worked his way up, spending three seasons as a pro personnel scout, another as assistant director of pro personnel and then five years as director of pro personnel before becoming assistant GM and essentially serving as Schneider's right-hand man.

Teasley had recently been scheduled for a second interview with the Vikings, who had reportedly narrowed their list of finalists to five to replace Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Adofo-Mensah was fired after the Vikings went 9-8 in 2025 following the decision not to re-sign quarterback Sam Darnold, who had led them to a 14-3 season in 2024. Darnold then signed as a free agent with the Seahawks.
