Magic Johnson Reacts to Victor Wembanyama Leading Spurs to NBA Finals
The San Antonio Spurs outlasted the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night, winning 111-103 in the Western Conference Finals to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.
San Antonio was led by 22-year-old superstar Victor Wembanyama, who finished with a team-high 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
Following the game, an emotional Wembanyama received a congratulatory message on social media from NBA legend Magic Johnson after being named the recipient of the Earvin "Magic" Johnson Trophy as Western Conference Finals MVP.
"I want to congratulate San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson, superstar Victor Wembanyama, and the entire Spurs organization for advancing to the NBA Finals!" Johnson posted on X.
He added, "I want to congratulate Victor Wembanyama on winning the Earvin ‘Magic' Johnson Trophy as the new Western Conference Finals MVP!"

Wembanyama was at the forefront of the Spurs’ success throughout the series, but he certainly wasn’t the only contributor.
Stephon Castle recorded 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists in Game 7, while Julian Champagnie added 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. San Antonio also had four other players score in double figures in the elimination game.
Now, the Spurs will face a quick turnaround as they return home to prepare for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. New York will enter the series well-rested after more than a week off since its last game.
