No. 1 Overall Seed UCLA Eliminated In NCAA Tournament Stunner

UCLA, the No. 1 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament, has been eliminated in a stunning upset.

The Bruins, the best team out of the Big Ten - and the top overall seed in the 64-team NCAA Tournament - will not be making it out of the Regionals. UCLA was stunned on Sunday, losing to St. Mary's.

St. Mary's topped UCLA, 6-5, in walkoff fashion on Sunday evening, sending the Bruins home early. The Gaels won with a single into left field. St. Mary's is off to the REgional Final for the first time in program history.

UCLA star Roch Cholowsky, the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, saw his collegiate career come to an end in devastating fashion. He went 2 for 12 this weekend with two singles.

The college baseball world is shocked.

"Saint Mary's stuns UCLA for a 2nd time this week, walking off the Bruins in 10 innings. And the No. 1 overall seed is is out. A historic season, wire-to-wire No. 1 in the rankings-but they peaked a while back and have had to grind for the last month. Fell off the tightrope today," Aaron Fitt wrote.

"They were overrated and played in a nothing league," one added.

"Everyone knows UCLA was a 50+ win team, #1 all season, MLB talent galore, etc. but the BIG10 schedule they play doesn't help them. The bottom half of the BIG10 league is uncompetitive. You get some hungry pesky California mid majors like they got and historic losses 2/3 nights," one fan shared.
