Fans Calling for 1 Change to Knicks, Spurs NBA Finals Courts
In the late hours of May, the NBA revealed its two court designs for the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
The league released renderings of what the courts at Madison Square Garden and Frost Bank Center will look like when the finals tips off on June 3. Fans weren’t too pleased with how the NBA’s “finals” logo looks on the court and let the league hear about it on social media.
“why didn’t you guys just retain the old finals design,” one fan asked showing a previous design.

They weren’t alone as many of the responses to the message from the NBA suggested a change to the script logo the league is using for the finals this year.
“We want the year on the sides again like this in the 90s,” offered another showing an old design.
Fans are pleased, though, that the NBA went back to the old design showing the Larry O’Brien Trophy at midcourt, rather than uselessly tucked away somewhere else on the floor.
“It's so beautiful. Glad it's back,” said Yahoo Sports personality Kevin O’Connor before another added, “Its the small things that gives things like the Finals their aura back.”
Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs tips off from San Antonio on Wednesday, June 3. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC.
