Sophie Cunningham Had a Special Guest for Fever Road Trip

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has some special company in her trip to The Big Apple for Saturday's matchup against the New York Liberty.

After a bounce-back win for Indiana against the Atlanta Dream, the team will now hit the road for the next two games.

The Fever will face the Liberty on Saturday and the Washington Mystics on Monday for their next Commissioner's Cup assignments.

Eighth-year guard Cunningham, though, might not feel far from home, as she will be accompanied by her mom, Paula Cunningham.

Cunningham was spotted boarding the team's plane with Mama P. Her recent social media posts confirmed this.

On her Instagram stories, Cunningham and her mom were seen touring New York and enjoying the city's famous sites.

Cunningham's athletic background comes from her parents. Paula Cunningham was a college track athlete at Missouri, and her dad, Jim Cunningham, was a football player.

Before these road games, the 13th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft was among the contributors in Indiana's win over Atlanta.

She finished with eight points and two rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes of play.

Currently, she's posting a season average of 9.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in nine games.

This is Cunningham's second season with the Fever after they acquired her via trade in February 2025.

After a successful season last year, she signed a contract extension with Indiana in free agency.

Cunningham's best game this season was their 89-78 win over the Seattle Storm on May 18, where she finished with 17 points, three rebounds and one steal.
