Red Wings' Dylan Larkin Trade Situation Evolves With New Teams Linked

The Detroit Red Wings are continuing to navigate a rapidly evolving situation surrounding their captain.

Red Wings center Dylan Larkin requested a trade at the start of June and immediately became one of the most prominent names on the market, reshaping the NHL offseason.

The Athletic was the first outlet to report on Larkin's preferred destinations, naming the Minnesota Wild, the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Florida Panthers as potential suitors. A little over a week later, new details suggest the list of potential landing spots is growing.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta appeared on the "Hello Hockey" show on Sunday and revealed that multiple teams, previously unreported, have emerged as possible destinations of late.

"I've heard San Jose. I've heard Dallas. I've heard Utah, Philadelphia to a degree…," Pagnotta said. "At least they have interest. I don't know if they're one of the teams, but it sounds like the other three are, and I think he'd be open if another opportunity presented itself to consider it."

Because Larkin has a full no-trade clause in his eight-year, $69.6 million contract, he has control over where he can be moved, which has turned into a central factor in negotiations between the Red Wings and potential trade partners.

According to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, Detroit is pushing for more flexibility regarding Larkin's list of preferred destinations to maximize their potential return.

"As one would expect, the Dylan Larkin situation is ever-evolving as the parties try to find a solution that works for everyone," LeBrun said. "Yzerman went back to Brisson and asked to expand their original list of three teams, and my sense is that Brisson was receptive to that to some degree."

Larkin, 29, is under contract through 2030-31 and has recorded 643 points in 808 career games, all with Detroit. He ranks 10th in Red Wings history in points and goals, and he's got the 11th-most assists.
