Indiana Fever Announce Caitlin Clark's Status Before Phoenix Mercury Game

The Indiana Fever are looking to bounce back after consecutive losses to the Atlanta Dream, and all eyes are once again on Caitlin Clark heading into Monday night's matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.

Clark has continued to appear on the Fever's injury report because of a lingering back issue, creating some concern among fans despite her recent stretch of dominant performances. Fortunately for Indiana, the latest update appears to be encouraging.

On Sunday, the Fever released their official status report for the Mercury game, providing clarity on where Clark stands as the team attempts to get back on track in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Fever Provide Encouraging Caitlin Clark Update

The Fever announced Sunday that Clark is listed as probable for Monday's home game against Phoenix because of a back injury. The designation has become familiar for Indiana fans in recent weeks.

Clark has regularly appeared on the injury report with the lingering issue, but it has not prevented her from taking the floor. In fact, she has not missed a game since May 20 and has continued to play some of the best basketball of her season.

The latest status report suggests Monday should be no different. Barring an unexpected setback, Clark appears on track to suit up against a Mercury team that enters the contest at 5-12 on the season.

Clark Has Been On A Remarkable Scoring Run

The injury designation may grab headlines, but Clark's recent play has been far more significant. The Fever star has scored at least 20 points in five consecutive games and continues to power Indiana's offense. During that stretch, she has averaged 26.0 points, 8.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game while logging heavy minutes.

Her latest outing came Saturday against the Atlanta Dream when she finished with 26 points and seven assists despite Indiana's 113-96 defeat. That performance followed another 26-point, seven-assist effort against Atlanta earlier in the week.

Even with opponents focusing their entire defensive game plan around slowing her down, Clark continues to produce at an elite level.

Fever Looking To Snap Two-Game Skid

Indiana enters Monday's matchup with a 9-7 record and sits third in the Eastern Conference standings. While the Fever have dropped two straight games, Clark's strong play remains one of the biggest reasons the team remains firmly in the playoff picture.

For the season, the former Iowa star is averaging 21.1 points, 8.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. She also continues to climb the WNBA record books while serving as the focal point of Indiana's offense.

Monday's game against Phoenix presents an opportunity for the Fever to get back in the win column, and based on Sunday's injury report, Clark appears poised to be right in the middle of that effort once again.
