I’ve been using the same Dagne Dover carry-on for 5 years now, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon
I wouldn’t call myself an “expert traveler,” but I have traveled a good amount over the years and pride myself on finding the best products to help make the whole process more enjoyable. I think having a quality carry-on bag is one of the most important things when traveling. That’s why in 2019, when I saw the eco-friendly and women-founded bag brand Dagne Dover popping up all over my Instagram, I was interested in trying out one of its bags. I got my hands on the Large Landon Neoprene Carryall, and I haven’t looked back since.
I’ve used this bag (or the medium size) every single time I’ve flown since then (and also on multiple weekend trips), and the bag still looks just as good as the day I got it. Here’s why this bag is 100% worth the splurge.
Large Landon Neoprene Carryall Bag, $215
What makes this bag different from any other carry-on I’ve tried is the material. It’s made from neoprene that not only feels super soft and nice, but it also has a bit of a stretch to it, so when I stuff my bag a little too much (yes, I 100% needed all those souvenirs when I was in London last year!), I can still close it. And let me tell you, I have packed this bag full. I usually start my trips with the sides snapped down, making the bag smaller. But then on my way home, I unsnap, adding a little extra room for anything that I’ve picked up along the way.
The bag also has many useful pockets. There’s a laptop sleeve with elastic closure, a large zipper interior pocket, two mesh gusset slip pockets on the sides (which I usually put my water bottle in), an air mesh zip-top pouch for small essentials like AirPods I don’t want to lose, and an exterior phone slip pocket (one of my favorite features). Seriously, that little phone slot on the outside of the bag is so helpful. I always know where my phone is and can grab it in seconds when I’m in line at the airport and need my boarding pass asap.
This bag also has a luggage-handle sleeve, so you can slip it right onto a suitcase. I find that this is the best way to travel with it. While I can carry the bag with either the two shorter straps or the detachable crossbody strap, I prefer to slip it onto my suitcase and roll it through the airport. This way, my shoulder isn’t killing me when my gate is on the complete opposite side of the terminal.
When I first got this bag, I was shocked at the large size of it. But I’ve used it as a personal item on many flights, and I’ve never gotten stopped because of the size. It also fits great under the seat in front of me, and it truly helps make traveling a breeze. The included recycled polyester lining shoe bag is such a nice touch; I find it so useful that I use it every time I pack shoes, even if I’m not taking the Dagne Dover bag (which only happens on rare occasions).
Seriously, I could go on and on about how much I love this bag. I actually have it in medium and large and use both all the time. And I’m not the only one who loves them. After raving about the bag to my mom, she asked if she could borrow mine when she went to Europe a couple of years ago. She loved it so much that she put one on her Christmas list, and now she’s also a fan and never travels without it. Reviewers also agree that this bag is great. “I bought this as a carry-on for several trips we have this year. It really is perfect!” one reviewer said. “A pocket for everything — the cell phone pocket is ideal. It’s not too big or too small; I really love it!”
And while you might be turning your head at the price ($200+ for a bag seems a bit ridiculous!), I can tell you that I’ve had this same bag for more than five years, and it has held up so well. I really have no intention of stopping using it anytime soon, which makes it a great investment when you think about how many trips I’ve taken it on. So if you want a carry-on bag that’ll make traveling easier, you need to invest in this Landon Carryall bag from Dagne Dover. Trust me — your life is about to change.
