Regal Martin Village theaters in Lacey delays reopening. Here’s what to expect
The Regal Martin Village ScreenX & IMAX movie theater complex in Lacey has pushed it reopening to July 31, according to Regal’s website.
As reported earlier in The Olympian, the company announced on its website in June that it would reopen its theaters starting Friday, July 10. It was not clear in the announcement if all its theaters, including the one in Lacey, would reopen on the same day.
The movie theater at 5400 Martin Way E. was shut down in March as coronavirus restrictions took hold in Washington state.
When the movie theater does reopen, it will have a wide range of rules in place in an attempt to curtail the spread of COVID-19. Here are a few examples:
▪ Contactless payment. Movie-goers can use Regal’s app to not only buy tickets, but also food concession items.
▪ Employees will sanitize every auditorium and seat after each movie using electrostatic fogger equipment. Regal said this form of sanitization is effective in disinfecting all materials with a non-toxic formula that is fast drying.
▪ Auditorium capacities will be reduced to 50%. Customers will also be asked to leave at least two empty seats between groups.
▪ Employees will be required to wash hands at minimum every 30 to 60 minutes, depending on their job.
▪ Where required by local governance, all employees and customers will wear masks.
▪ Vending machines and water fountains will not be available for use.
