Out and About: Find a ‘Clue,’ hear songs of revolution, or play dentist
Board game on the boards
Olympia Little Theatre’s “Clue: On Stage,” postponed two weeks due to COVID-19, opens Thursday, Feb. 3. The whimsical whodunit, based on the classic Hasbro board game and the 1985 film, finds the usual suspects — Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Mrs. White and Miss Scarlett — gathered in Boddy Manor for a dinner party. Murder is, of course, on the menu. Performances are at 7:25 p.m. Feb. 4, 5, 11 and 12 and 1:55 p.m. Feb. 6 and 13 at the theater, 1925 Miller Ave. NE, Olympia. Tickets are $9-$15. They’re in short supply for some performances, so buying in advance is recommended. The theater requires proof of vaccination.
Sin Fronteras
Seattle’s Sin Fronteras (“without borders”) focuses on South America’s nueva canción, or new songs — music known for its political messages. The trio will perform Friday, Feb. 4, at Arbutus Folk School, 610 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia. The concert, from 7 to 9 p.m., is offered in conjunction with a workshop the musicians of Sin Fronteras taught at Arbutus, and students will join the band on some tunes. Tickets are $12. The school requires proof of vaccination.
Time for teeth
February is Dental Health Month, and Hands On Children’s Museum is celebrating with free dental screenings for kids and themed activities. Besides playing dentist in the Emergency Gallery, young museum-goers can make monster mouth puppets, sew toothy pillows and learn about the teeth of sharks and whales. The museum, at 414 Jefferson St. NE, Olympia, requires timed reservations. General admission tickets cost $15.95. Those who aren’t museum members can play for $1 from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4. To make reservations for a dental screening, call 360-956-0818, extension 0.
Freelance writer Molly Gilmore likes her dentist and hygienist but doesn’t want to visit them any more than necessary. She talks about what’s happening in Olympia and beyond with 95.3 KGY-FM’s Michael Stein from 3 to 4 p.m. Fridays.
