Olympia’s Music in the Park will return this summer on new day

The Olympia Downtown Alliance is bringing Music in the Park back to Olympia this July, but it is changing the day and time of the popular outdoor, free concert series.

The concerts will take place at 1 p.m. Sundays in July. Most will be at Sylvester Park, but the series will kick off July 3 at Port Plaza.

“We decided to move the event to Sundays based on feedback we received from community members. Sundays provide greater accessibility to more people and will allow our community to enjoy our small, locally owned businesses before or after the show,” Todd Cutts, Olympia Downtown Alliance executive director, said in a news release.

Here is the schedule of bands so far:

  • July 3 – To be determined (Port Plaza)
  • July 10 – Ian McFeron
  • July 17 – Wrng Haus
  • July 24 – Hook Me Up Band
  • July 31 – E Pruitt

Music in the Park — which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019 — attracts between 600 to several thousand attendees per show, according to the ODA. The ODA canceled the series in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
