A world at war

The South Puget Sound Community College Theatre Collective presents “Far Away by Caryl Churchill at the Minnaert Center for the Arts Black Box at SPSCC’s Olympia campus from Friday, Feb. 24 to March 5. Churchill’s play depicts a dystopian world where everyone and everything is at war. The cast includes Sara R. Thiessen and Zoey Matthews, as well as SPSCC student Delani Buchanan and SPSCC graduate Julian Owen. “’Far Away’ is a poetic and political piece of theatre that allows us to experiment,” said Lauren Love, director and drama professor at SPSCC. “We’ve been trying out varied arrangements of playing spaces and audience spaces to create an immersive, contemplative, and impactful experience.” Admission is a suggested $10 donation at the door. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, and Saturday, Feb. 25, as well as March 3-4.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, Comedic Wordplay Productions and Olympia Film Society will present Majorly Queer: A Queer Comedy Show Experience & Music Celebration.
