‘Coco’ and ski adventures hit the big screen, and SOGO kicks off 25 years with concert

‘Coco’ in concert

Pixar’s colorful “Coco,” about a young boy who finds himself in the Land of the Dead on the Day of the Dead, gets the full concert treatment on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Olympia. The 20-member Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México will accompany the 2017 film, which follows the journey of young Miguel as he discovers long-buried family secrets. Though animated movies are often thought of as kids’ stuff, “Coco” was a hit with grownups, too. The New Yorker called it “a definitive movie for this moment.” The screening is at 6 p.m. Saturday at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Tickets are $39-$79.
