A Timeless Classic Recognized

American Songwriter, the online publication focusing on connecting fans with the craft of music, names "Good Hearted Woman" a timeless classic that remains endlessly relevant. Partly inspired by singer Tina Turner, the song was written by Jennings and Nelson and was first recorded by Jennings as the title track of his 16th studio album Good Hearted Woman.

""I'd been reading an ad for Ike and Tina Turner," Jennings shared (via Songfacts). "And it said, ‘Tina Turner singing songs about good-hearted women loving good-timing men.' I thought, ‘What a great country song title that is!'""

The Iconic Duet Version

In 1976, Jennings released another version of "Good Hearted Woman," this time with Nelson accompanying on vocals. The duet version has its own lore-Nelson recorded his vocals separately, and the track was later combined with Jennings' original recording, adding to its organic, collaborative feel.
