'Beyond the Gates' Star Reveals the Sneaky Camera Trick Used to Hide a Major Behind-the-Scenes Crisis

Beyond the Gates star Jen Jacob shared a behind-the-scenes detail with fans on social media following the show's April 20 episode.

After episode 276 of the soap opera aired on CBS, she posted a video to Instagram to share a story with fans. "OK, you guys, a little fun fact. If you watched today's episode, I had been up the entire night before shooting with an awful 24-hour stomach bug," she shared.

She explained that in the episode, her character Ashley was set to share a kiss with Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso). However, because she was "so sick," the moment had to be adjusted.

Instead, the scene was filmed to avoid contact. "We didn't kiss," she said, adding, "if you see, the camera gets us off screen before we actually touch."

She also joked, "Poor Jordie," referring to her co-star, before adding that no one else became ill during filming.

Ashley's Beyond the Gates Story So Far

Ashley has had a complicated journey in Fairmont Crest since the series premiered. She began as a nurse at Grayland Memorial Hospital and quickly found herself in high-stakes situations, including helping deliver a baby while trapped in an elevator.

Her personal life has been equally complex. Ashley developed feelings for ‘playboy' Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) while dating firefighter Derrick (Ben Gavin). But eventually both relationships fell apart. In Season 2, she began a new romance with lab technician Grayson, and is putting herself first.

Ashley also remains close friends with Naomi Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit), and is currently encouraging Naomi to come clean about her BRCA mutation secret, an ongoing storyline that could have major implications for her friend's health.
