TLC ‘Unexpected' Star Fighting Arrest Charges as Show Faces Backlash
TLC's Unexpected is facing another wave of controversy after legal trouble involving one of its recurring cast members collided with growing backlash over the show itself.
Falen Vaughn, the mother of cast member Bella Vaughn, is speaking out after her recent arrest in Arkansas. According to TMZ, Vaughn was taken into custody Monday, April 20 on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disrupting governmental operations.
Her attorney, Kevin Hickey, told the outlet on Wednesday, April 22, that Falen denies wrongdoing and intends to fight the case. He stated that she plans to plead not guilty and maintains she was at the scene to help her daughter and grandson during the incident.
Police allegations cited in published reports claim Falen became aggressive and failed to comply with officers' commands after they responded to a dispute. Her legal team disputes that version of events.
The timing has only intensified scrutiny around the series, which follows teen pregnancies and young families. The show was already under fire after a preview clip from an episode went viral online a few weeks prior.

Many viewers said the scene crossed a line, with some calling on TLC to cancel the program altogether.
"4 days? Sadly? Literally cancel the show," one commenter wrote.
Another added, "This is super disturbing."
For now, it seem's Unexpected shows now signs of cancelling soon, as a recent casting call was shared on Instagram looking for young teen parents to join the eighth season.
