Academy-Award Nominated Actress Sets Personal Best at the London Marathon
Cynthia Erivo is no stranger to flying high, but she also runs fast. Like...really fast. The Wicked: For Good! actress was one of many celebs running today in the London Marathon and finished with a staggeringly fast time of 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 40 seconds. This marathon marked a personal best time for Erivo, improving upon her 2022 London Marathon time of 3 hours, 35 minutes, and 36 seconds according to Reddit.
Erivo ran the race raising money for two charities-The King's Trust and Shameless Fund. Upon completely the marathon Erivo said to press, "There was a little rough moment where I thought it was never going to make it, but then I found a little bit of strength.I'm here, and I feel really proud."
She also shared a snap of her medal and personal best time with fans to her Instagram.
Other celebrities spotted at the marathon this morning included James Norton, Jack O'Connell, Dame Laura Kenny, Samantha Spiro, and Sir Alastair Cook.
The London Marathon (also called the TCS London Marathon) is considered one of the six major marathons taking place across the globe alongside Tokyo, New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Berlin. There is a significant charitable aspect to the London Marathon, with participants helping raise over £1.4 billion since its founding in 1981.
Today marks the third marathon completion for Cynthia Erivo. Notably she completed the New York City marathon in 2016 while performing on Broadway in The Color Purple as Celie Harris, the role which Whoopi Goldberg originated in the movie version.
Aside from running marathons in record time, Cynthia Erivo is currently starring in a one-woman adaptation of Dracula(based on the 1897 Irish gothic novel by Bram Stoker) in London's West End where she plays all 23 characters in the show. The production, directed by Kip Williams runs through the end of May, 2026. The Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award winner will appear on screen next in the film adaptation of the fantasy novelChildren of Blood and Bone in 2027.
