These are some of the most infamous entanglements between stars and reporters:
Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini
The New England Patriots' head coach and The Athletic's senior NFL insider - both married to other people - set off a firestorm in April 2026 after photos surfaced of them hugging and holding hands at an Arizona resort. Vrabel called the images "innocent," but a week later, Russini resigned from her job amid an internal investigation, saying she didn't want the scandal to "define me or my career." Pictures of the pair kissing at a bar in March 2020 later surfaced, leading the former linebacker to seek counseling.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Olivia Nuzzi
New York magazine put its Washington, D.C., correspondent on leave in September 2024 after she disclosed a "relationship with a former subject." (Nuzzi, who was engaged to fellow journo Ryan Lizza at the time, profiled Kennedy during his 2023 presidential campaign.) One month later, New York parted ways with the writer, who went on to publish a memoir about the "digital" dalliance titled American Canto. RFK Jr. - who is married to Cheryl Hines - has maintained he met Nuzzi only once.
Liam Gallagher and Liza Ghorbani
The Oasis singer and the journalist began an affair after she interviewed him for The New York Times in May 2010, resulting in the birth of their daughter, Gemma. Ghorbani exposed their romance - which occurred while Gallagher was married to All Saints member Nicole Appleton - when she sued the rock star for child support in July 2013. They settled in March 2015, but Ghorbani took Gallagher back to court in March 2025, prompting him to call her a "gold digger" on social media.
Michael Lohan and Kate Major
Lindsay Lohan's dad and the Star reporter developed a years-long friendship while she was covering his daughter in the mid-aughts. They got engaged in April 2010 ("I'm really happy," Major told Us Weekly at the time) and wed in October 2024. After welcoming kids Landon and Logan, the pair separated in December 2015 and have been wrapped up in legal issues ever since.
Kate Major and Jon Gosselin
Shortly before she began dating Lohan, Major had a fling with the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star on the heels of his June 2009 divorce from Kate Gosselin. Their short-lived relationship led the reporter to resign from Star that July, citing a "conflict of interest." Major later famously said she'd been "in lust with [Jon], but no, I didn't love him."
