Legendary ‘The Wonder Years' Star and Emmy-Winning Soap Opera Actress Turns 75
A true sitcom icon, Alley Mills, is officially 75 years old as she celebrates the landmark birthday on May 9. The actress, who has worked in the entertainment industry for six decades now, had fans excited as she marked the personal milestone.
Mills has had an impressive career as an actress, with many interesting roles over the years, but she's arguably most well-known for her role in the legendary sitcom The Wonder Years and her work on soap operas.
She debuted as the character Norma Arnold in the coming-of-age comedy series The Wonder Years in 1988, which established her as a household name in television. The show also starred Dan Lauria as Jack Arnold, Mills' character's husband, with Fred Savage starring as their son Kevin. Olivia d'Abo and Jason Hervey played Kevin's siblings, Karen and Wayne, respectively.
The Wonder Years aired for six seasons between 1988 and 1993, with a total of 115 episodes. The show was an extreme success and is still cited as one of the best sitcoms in history.
While this role on its own was enough for Mills to make her mark in entertainment history, she has gone on to have quite a few other memorable roles as well after The Wonder Years came to an end.

In particular, she gained a whole new group of fans when she joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2006 as the character Pamela Douglas. She has appeared on the show sporadically since then, becoming a part of the soap opera's recurring cast and its lasting legacy.
But surprisingly, after over 15 years of working on The Bold and the Beautiful, it was another major soap opera role that ended up earning Mills multiple Daytime Emmys for her performance, and that was the role of Heather Webber on General Hospital. She joined the show in 2022, and her acting led her to win the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series in both 2023 and 2025.
Along with The Wonder Years and well-known soap operas, Mills has also appeared in many prominent shows and films over the decades. Just a few of these include Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, NYPD Blue, Girlfriends, and more.
