Janet Jackson may be a musical icon, but she does her best to fly under the radar.
Jackson, 59, the highly successful sister of Michael Jacksonand the rest of the Jackson 5, kicked off her career as a child actress in the role of Penny on Good Times. As an adult, she blossomed into a musical phenom, triumphing across multiple decades with diverse albums like Rhythm Nation 1814 and janet. Flash forward to the present, and Jackson is still a staple of the music industry. This week, the beauty hit the red carpet to attend the Grammy Hall of Fame Gala 2026 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and worked the red carpet in an androgynous look before receiving an award onstage. With her long hair in tight curls cascading down her shoulders, Jackson looks almost the same as she did back on the red carpet in the '90s.
Jackson Made Her First Public Performance in 7 Years in 2025
Jackson's performance in May 2025 at the American Music Awards was her first public performance in seven years. With 50 years of making music under her belt, it's safe to say people were eager to see her back on the stage. She also received the ICON Award at the ceremony.
"I love you so much," Jackson said in her acceptance speech, according to PEOPLE. "I am so so honored. I am so grateful. I mean, no disrespect in any way, but I don't consider myself an icon."
She continued, explaining that it wasn't the Jackson family's goal to be famous.
"We weren't raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication," she explained. "My story, my family's story, is truly an American story. This would have only happened in America."
