Controversial Country Star's Fans Are Furious Over ACM Awards 'Snub'
Morgan Wallen may have dominated streaming charts this year, but fans think the Academy of Country Music Awards had a very different opinion.
The country superstar walked into Sunday night's ACM Awards with nominations in some of the evening's biggest categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. But despite the major recognition (and his continued commercial success), Wallen left the May 17 ceremony empty-handed.
And online, plenty of fans were not happy about it. Some viewers questioned how one of country music's most commercially successful artists could walk away without a single win. After all, the 33-year-old's latest album I'm the Problem, recently reached 4x Platinum status.
Still, Wallen's relationship with award shows has remained complicated over the years, especially amid the controversies that have followed him throughout his career. Even so, many fans argued that his chart performance and influence on modern country music should have translated into at least one ACM victory.

"It's bullsh*t Morgan Wallen didn't win Album of the Year when I'm the problem has sold millions of copies songs," one X user shared.
Another wrote, "How do the Country Awards continue to snub Morgan Wallen. The awards are biased and fake if you don't reward the top Album by far and his songs dominated the #1 position the last 3 years."
Musician Parker McCollum ended up taking home Album of the Year, which riled up a bunch of fans.

"What? I've heard one song on this album. Morgan was robbed!" one declared.
A fourth asked, "In what world did this do better than I'm The Problem????"
The disappointment comes during an otherwise busy stretch for Wallen professionally. Just weeks ago, he teamed up with rising country star Ella Langley for their highly anticipated duet, "I Can't Love You Anymore."
"Ella and I have been talking about doing a song for a little while now," Wallen said in a press release. "We have been on tour together, and I'm a huge fan of what she does. She wrote and sent over this song, and from the beginning riff, it was hard to deny. I'm honored she wanted me to be the one to do it with her."
