Beloved TikTok Star Patriotic Kenny Dead 2 Months After Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Patriotic Kenny, the beloved TikTok grandpa known for his dedication to helping veterans, has died following a battle with stage 4 lung cancer. He was 84.

The heartbreaking news was announced Monday through Kenny Jary's social media accounts via neighbor Amanda Kline.

"The tears may never stop flowing. It is with the most indescribable sadness we share that Patriotic Kenny has passed," a statement shared to TikTok read on Monday, May 18. "He experienced the most profound love and was Earth's bright light. He passed surrounded by love and he was in peace."

Fans were saddened by the news, and left their condolences in the comments.

"You guys gave him the most incredible last years of his life which isn't something everyone gets," one noted.

Other fans, who viewed Kenny as a grandfather figure, left comments like, "I feel like I just lost my grandpa," and, "I'm glad we all got to spend time with americas Grampa."

Kenny first went viral in 2021 after Kline shared him with the world in hopes to raise money for a new scooter. Viewers quickly connected with the Navy veteran's humor and overall personality, helping him grow a massive online following. Through his foundation, the Patriotic Kelly Foundation, he worked to help fellow veterans regain independence by supplying mobility equipment and support services.

The news comes just two months after Kenny revealed he had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, but even then, he remained committed to continuing his videos and encouraging followers to stay positive.

An emotional message shared to Instagram Stories acknowledged just how much his content resonated with people online. "Dear World, I know your heart is breaking over the news of Kenny's passing," the statement read. "Kenny's videos comforted so many of you in really, really dark times of your lives."

The message continued by encouraging fans to revisit Kenny's old videos, adding, "Kenny would say ‘We cant be little babies! We gotta settle down now and struggle on.'"

Another story post encouraged supporters to continue donating to the Patriotic Kenny Foundation, the nonprofit organization Kenny launched to provide mobility aids and electric scooters to veterans in need.
