Popular '80s-Themed TV Show Has the Most-Streamed Soundtrack of Any Netflix Series, Spotify Reveals

Spotify has revealed which Netflix series have the most-streamed soundtracks, and at the top of the list is none other than Stranger Things.

The retro-themed series, which takes place in the 1980s in a fictional Indiana suburb, is known and loved for having quite a bitchin' soundtrack, which apparently has more streams than any other Netflix show. Since its premiere in 2016, the Stranger Things soundtrack has racked up a total of 765 million all-time streams, according to new data released by Spotify.

The streaming platform released the new data last month in honor of its 20-year anniversary, unveiling ranked lists of the platform's most-streamed songs, artists, albums and even audiobooks, of all time to celebrate the milestone. It also revealed which Netflix series soundtracks listeners have been loving the most, with Stranger Things earning the top spot, followed closely by Bridgerton with 749 million all-time streams, and CoComelon with 334 million.

It's likely no surprise to fans that Stranger Things takes the cake, as several iconic '80s songs are featured on the soundtrack. A whole new generation of fans have been introduced to some of the biggest era-defining songs of the decade, like "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" by The Clash (featured in Season 1) and Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" (Season 2).

Season 3 featured retro classics like Madonna's "Material Girl" and Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go." But it was Season 4 of Stranger Things that really put '80s music front and center when the Kate Bush song, "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" was tied into the show's storyline. The show spurred on a massive comeback for the 1985 synth-pop anthem, and it had a similar effect on other tracks like "Upside Down" by Diana Ross and "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany, which both surged in popularity after Season 5 premiered in late 2025.
