Rugrats: Retro Rewind Is Out Now Digitally On Switch and PS5, Physical Pre-Orders Close On Sunday

Rugrats: Retro Rewind is out now digitally on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Limited Run Games released the six-game Nicktoons compilation last Friday after a slight delay of one week, bringing Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, and the rest of the Pickles crew back to modern platforms for the first time in decades. If you've been waiting to pick it up, physical editions are still available to pre-order, but only until this Sunday.

Six Games, Spanning 1998 to 2001

The collection covers every major Rugrats game from the original PlayStation era through the Game Boy Advance years, including:

  • Rugrats: Search for Reptar (1998, PlayStation) - The first Rugrats game, guiding the babies through a jigsaw puzzle mystery to find the missing Reptar toy.
  • The Rugrats Movie (Game Boy, Game Boy Color) - Based on the 1998 film, with the crew on a mission to find the missing Dil Pickles.
  • Rugrats: Time Travelers (1999, Game Boy Color) - A platformer that starts in a toy store and spirals into a time machine adventure.
  • Rugrats: Studio Tour (PlayStation) - An action-adventure set inside a movie studio packed with film sets to explore and hazards to dodge.
  • Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (Game Boy Color, PlayStation, Nintendo 64) - A movie tie-in set at a Paris theme park, one of the best-remembered Rugrats games from the era.
  • Rugrats: Castle Capers (2001, Game Boy Advance) - The final game in the collection, where the babies have to take their stolen toys back from Angelica's fortress playground.

Quality-of-Life Features Make the Retro Stuff Playable in 2026

Typical of the studio, Limited Run Games didn't just port these and call it done. Every game in the collection includes a save anywhere feature, a rewind function, and customizable CRT screen filters let you dial in the warm, slightly blurry look of a 1990s analog TV if you want the full period-accurate experience. There's also a built-in music player that lets you pull up the Rugrats soundtrack independently of whatever game you're currently in, which is a nice touch.

Physical Editions Pre-Order Window Closes May 31

The digital version is available now on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 digital storefronts, and it has been available on Steam for a while. For collectors, Limited Run Games has two physical editions available to pre-order on their site until May 31. One of those is a Deluxe Edition that includes a PS1-inspired game case, the official Rugrats soundtrack, a Reptar Puzzle Piece Keychain, and a sticker set. Once the pre-order window closes, that's it for physical production, so the only place you'll find these later on is on the secondary market.

For anyone who spent the late 1990s trying to reassemble that Reptar puzzle in the living room, the window to revisit it on a modern TV with a physical copy closes in five days.
