'The Witcher 3' expansion 'Songs of the Past' to release in 2027
May 27 (UPI) -- CD Projekt Red has announced a third expansion for its hit video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The studio said in a press release Wednesday that the Songs of the Past DLC will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027.
Songs of the Past is co-developed by CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory. Players will again take control of monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, with more details to be announced in late summer.
The Witcher 3 was originally released in 2015 and was followed by two expansions, Hearts of Stone (2015) and Blood and Wine (2016). The game has sold more than 60 million copies and won more than 250 Game of the Year awards.
The Witcher is based on the Andrzej Sapkowski fantasy book series, which also inspired a live-action TV series that released its fourth season on Netflix in October. Henry Cavill played Geralt in the show's first three seasons, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role in Season 4.
CD Projekt Red previously announced in November that a fourth game, The Witcher 4, is in production.
