Ocean Survival Game The Last Caretaker Releases New Trailer and Updated Demo Following Award Win

Developer Channel37 has released a new trailer and updated demo for their game, The Last Caretaker. The game is an ocean-world survival title that was launched in early access following strong player reception and a major industry win.

In The Last Caretaker, players awaken as humanity's final active caretaker, a machine who is tasked with saving civilization by recovering human seeds, rebuilding systems, and launching humanity's future into orbit across an ocean-covered world.

The Last Caretaker was recently named Finnish Game of the Year 2025 at the Finnish Game Awards, helping provide additional visibility to an already stunning game. The new trailer highlights the current state of the game, showcasing a few of the major additions that have been added since the early access started.

According to Channel37, players spend an average of 41 hours in-game, contributing to the Very Positive player rating on Steam. Creators have also generated more than 27 million YouTube views across 7,000 videos featuring The Last Caretaker.

Concerning this, co-founder of Channel37 Antii Ilvessuo said, "We are still in Early Access, so the work is not theoretical. Players tell us where the game bends, where it breaks, and where it becomes something more interesting than we planned. Winning Finnish Game of the Year feels good, of course. But the real point is that people are playing for a long time, finding things, breaking things, reporting things, and coming back. That is what lets us keep improving the game."

An updated demo is also now available on Steam, so players can enjoy the current state of the game. Players can expect gameplay tuning, optimization improvements, and more. Currently, The Last Caretaker is available on Steam in early access.
