LEGO Pokémon SMART Play Sets Are Real and Coming August 1 With Pikachu, Charizard, And More
LEGO and The Pokémon Company International have unveiled 12 new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets launching August 1, 2026, with pre-orders now available. The sets range from $14.99 to $119.99 in price and introduce LEGO SMART Play technology to the Pokémon lineup: SMART Bricks embedded in select sets that make builds respond to play through light, sound, motion, and sensing, all without screens. This is a significant step up for LEGO Pokémon, given just how competitive the building block toys market has been for the IP.
The 12 sets are split into two categories. Two are All-in-One sets that include SMART Bricks: the Training House with Pikachu at $69.99, and the Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle at $119.99. The remaining ten are Compatible sets that can be used with SMART Bricks obtained from the All-in-One sets. The Compatible sets work as standard LEGO sets on their own, but the interactive features require a SMART Brick, which only comes in the pricier All-in-One packages. So, if you want to experience the LEGO SMART play features, you'll have to fork out more cash.

This set includes a Pikachu-inspired tree house, training items, a Poké Ball, buildable sandwich, and more. Fans can get the chance to become a Pokémon Trainer as they nurture, feed, play, train and battle LEGO Pikachu. Includes 1 SMART Brick, 4 Tags, Figure, and Charger. - Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (72167) - $119.99
Features Charizard and Jolteon in a fierce battle between the two iconic LEGO Pokémon. Look around and use the healing spray for support in the battle or have the Pokémon jump into a friendly training session together on the training grounds. Includes 2 SMART Bricks, 4 Tags, 2 Figures and Charger.

Lets children play out stories for the three Paldean First Partner Pokémon. You're not seeing double; there really are two compatible sets that are outright more expensive than the All-In-One Sets and yet can't play with the LEGO SMART play features, but that's just the nature of the product. If you want to catch them all, the total sum is just below $660.

All 12 sets are available for pre-order now at LEGO.com/themes/pokemon. They launch August 1, 2026, on LEGO.com, in LEGO stores, and at select retailers. LEGO stores will also have in-store demo experiences for the SMART Play technology before launch, so be sure to check a local store out to see the LEGO SMART Play experience yourself.
