Taylor Swift's 'Toy Story 5' Premiere Appearance Sparks Fan Theory About Her Secret Role
Swifties and Disney fans have already been overjoyed with the news that singer-songwriter and mega star Taylor Swifthas put out a brand-new song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," to be included on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. However, following her recent appearance at the Toy Story 5 world premiere, the internet is now convinced that a much bigger surprise is coming.
Swift had a massive presence at the Toy Story 5 world premiere, which took place on June 9. In addition to the adorable moment when Swift had Tom Hanksand other Toy Story stars sign her VHS tape of Toy Story, Swift performed the iconic Toy Story song "You've Got a Friend in Me" with Randy Newman (in a stunning yellow dress that has the internet going wild) and even received a Jessie doll alongside the voice actress for Jessie, Joan Cusack.
Given the major, arguably unprecedented extent of Swift's presence at the premiere, one rumor is now running rampant. Specifically, fans have begun to suspect that Swift is more involved with the movie than just her song. The running theory is that Swift is secretly the voice of Emily, Jessie's former owner.
Pixar's post showing Swift receiving the Jessie doll is particularly full of comments reflecting this theory, including one that reads, "Toy Story 2 box????? I swear if she's actually an older Emily, too 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹" and another that says, "She's definitely Jessie's owner."
The trailers for Toy Story 5 have confirmed that Emily is part of the movie, and Disney and Pixar haven't indicated who is voicing that part. It's possible that Emily doesn't have a speaking role, as was the case in Toy Story 2 when both Emily and Jessie had their debuts. However, particularly considering that this movie has been billed as a Jessie-focused story, it would make sense for Emily to have a larger (and therefore speaking) role.
So, is it possible that Swift is secretly the voice of Emily? Absolutely. The superstar is known for loving a good surprise-after all, fans had used Easter eggs and clues to guess that Swift was involved with Toy Story 5 in the first place-so this would be very on brand. Fans won't know for sure until the movie hits theaters on June 19, though.
