Savannah Chrisley Makes Huge Announcement About New Career Venture
Savannah Chrisley is ready to tell her side of the story.
The Chrisley Knows Best star announced on Instagram that she has signed a book deal with HarperCollins, calling the opportunity one she is "extremely grateful" for after turning down a similar conversation years ago.
"I also just signed a book deal with HarperCollins," Chrisley said in the video. "I am extremely grateful for this opportunity."
According to an official announcement from HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Chrisley has signed a two-book deal. The first book, a trade title called The Truth Behind the Smile, is set to be released by W Publishing Group, an imprint of Thomas Nelson, in September 2027. A second gift book through Thomas Nelson Gift is scheduled for Summer 2028.
Savannah Chrisley Says the Timing Finally Feels Right
Chrisley said the book deal feels different now because she is in a place where she can be more honest about her life.
"About 10 years ago, I remember sitting down with someone from HarperCollins, and they wanted me to do a book," Chrisley said. "And at that point in time, I just knew it wasn't the right fit."
She said that version of a book would not have reflected the truth of what she had been through.
"I could not be honest with my life. I could not be honest about my hardships and adversities and traumas," she said. "And honestly, if I would have written it then, it would have been garbage."
Chrisley joked that the earlier version could have been used as "a coffee table book," but said this project feels more meaningful.
"This book I'm really excited for because it's going to be a sense of therapy for me," she said.
What Savannah Chrisley's New Book Will Cover
The publisher's announcement describes The Truth Behind the Smile as a more intimate look at Chrisley's life beyond the public image.
The book is expected to explore her experiences with family, personal hardship, perseverance and moving forward through difficult seasons.
"For much of my life, people have known the headlines, the television moments, or the stories others have told about me," Chrisley said in the publisher's release. "What they haven't always known is the person behind them."
She added that the book will include "the moments that happened when the cameras were off," including the challenges and lessons that shaped who she is now.
That makes the book a natural next step for Chrisley, whose family has spent years in the public eye through Chrisley Knows Best, Growing Up Chrisley, legal battles, podcast interviews and their return to reality TV with Lifetime's The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.
A New Chapter After Years of Public Family Drama
Chrisley's book deal comes after a turbulent period for her family.
Her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax evasion. They reported to prison in January 2023 and were later granted full presidential pardons by President Donald Trump in May 2025.
During that time, Savannah became one of the family's most outspoken public figures. She spoke regularly about her parents' case, cared for younger family members and used her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast to address everything from family stress to criminal justice reform.
That history gives the book a built-in audience of viewers who watched the Chrisleys on TV, followed their legal case and kept up with Savannah's public fight for her family.

Why the Book Could Reveal a Different Side of Savannah
Chrisley said the book will share a side of her life that fans have not seen before.
"I am so excited for this opportunity with HarperCollins and to share a part of my life that none of you have ever seen or heard," she said.
The announcement also gives Chrisley a new career lane beyond reality television and podcasting. While she remains closely tied to the Chrisley family brand, a memoir gives her a chance to frame her story in her own words instead of through headlines, court updates or reality TV editing.
There is also one timing note for fans: In her Instagram video, Chrisley said she thinks the book will be seen "by the end of the year," but the official publisher announcement lists The Truth Behind the Smile for September 2027. Additional details, including cover design and preorder information, have not yet been announced.
