Medical Examiner's Report Sheds New Light On Robert Carradine's Tragic Death

Robert Carradine, the beloved actor best known for his roles in Lizzie McGuire and Revengeof the Nerds, died at the age of 71 on February 23 after taking his own life. And now, new information has come out about his death.

TMZ reports that, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's report, Carradine's daughter told investigators her father suffered from bipolar disorder, severe depression, anxiety, and recurring suicidal thoughts for roughly two decades before his death. The report adds that he was "taking multiple medications."

"The M.E.'s report states Carradine checked himself into a Los Angeles psychiatric hospital where he had previously received treatment because he was experiencing ongoing suicidal ideation," the outlet writes. "According to the report, an employee went to Carradine's room the following day to tell him his daughter was on the phone. That's when he was found hanging and unresponsive."

Carradine was in cardiac arrest when he was found, and medical personnel attempted to resuscitate. He was then transferred to an intensive care unit, where he ultimately died.

The actor played the father in the Lizzie McGuire series and film, as well as playing Lewis Skolnik in all four Revenge of the Nerdsmovies. Among those who paid tribute to the actor was Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff who shared a post on her Instagram on February 24.

"This one hurts," she wrote. "It's really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much warmth in the McGuire family, and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I'll be forever grateful for that. I'm deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him."
