'70s Rock Band Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts Again Over 50 Years After Releasing Signature Song

Aerosmithis still having a moment on the Billboard music charts.

Even several decades after putting out some of their most recognizable songs, the legendary rock band continues to rise on the charts, and they're even moving their way up the Top 10 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

According to new standings released by Billboard for the week of June 13, Aerosmith's Greatest Hits album has now reached the No. 8 spot on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, moving up from last week's position at No. 9.

The Greatest Hits album was initially released in August 2023. It's a deluxe version of the band's 1980 compilation album Aerosmith's Greatest Hits, which featured 10 tracks in total, including the group's signature hits from the '70s, like "Dream On" and "Walk This Way."

But the 2023 compilation features even more songs, including a number of hits released during Aerosmith's historic comeback in the '80s, like "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" and "Angel." It also features later career hits for the band like "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing," which came out in 1998 as the theme for the film Armageddon.

2023's Greatest Hits has spent a total of 146 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 1 shortly after its release. It also reached No. 4 on the Top Rock Albums chart and debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 36.

As for the group's 1980 compilation album, that record didn't reach its peak position on the Billboard 200 until 2013 when it landed it at No. 43. In 2012, it was also certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifying 1 million units sold.
