Emma Heming Willis Turns 50 With a Heartbreaking Tribute to Bruce Willis Amid FTD Battle

Emma Heming Willis marked her 50th birthday with a joyful throwback video of husband Bruce Willisfrom a time when life felt a little lighter.

As she reflected on entering a new decade, Emma admitted the last 10 years have been "heavy" as the couple navigated Bruce's frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which he was diagnosed with in 2023 after initially being diagnosed with aphasia the year before.

Emma captioned her post alongside a sweet video of Bruce, 71, singing " Happy Birthday " into a helium balloon. "Today is my big 5-0. And I have to say, I'm ready for this new decade and all it has to offer," she wrote. "My 40s were heavy, yet I'm proud of how far I've come as a wife, mom, care partner, and advocate."

She continued, "I'm also proud of the work we're doing through the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund and what lies ahead. Together, we're raising awareness of FTD, supporting caregivers, and advancing education and research. As I step into this next chapter, my birthday wish is for a future where families facing dementia have more support, resources, less stigma, and every reason to hold onto hope. If you'd like to celebrate this milestone with me, please consider supporting the Fund." The Emma & Bruce Willis Fund works to confront frontotemporal dementia by raising awareness, funding promising research, and supporting caregivers.

Only a few days ago, Emma addressed a big misconception about her husband's diagnosis. "When people say, ‘Oh, you know, does he remember who you are?' Well, he does because he doesn't have Alzheimer's; he has FTD," she shared on The Bosstickspodcast. "I think that's a very common misconception that, when you think of dementia, we think of memory loss."

She added, "I think what you experience with any form of dementia is it just takes. You know, these diseases, they take, and they take, and they take-sometimes very slowly-and you are grieving different losses all the time. So you are consistently in grief."

The couple shares two daughters, Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12. Bruce also has three adult daughters with his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore.
