Harbor Days Maritime Festival and Tugboat Races: Olympia’s annual festival runs 5-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at Percival Landing and the Port Plaza. On Sunday, tugboats process at noon, then race at 1 p.m. on Budd Inlet. Information: harbordays.com.

A Community United in Recovery 5K Walk/Run: 9 a.m. Sept. 5 at Capitol Lake’s Marathon Park. Free.

Monday

Labor Day Picnic: The Thurston-Lewis-Mason Counties Labor Council invites union members and their families to its annual Labor Day Picnic from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Stan Hedwall Park, 1501 Rice Road (Interstate 5 Exit 76) in Chehalis. Free food, refreshments and children’s entertainment will be available.

The 2015 Rally to Improve Birth: Rally for respectful care in U.S. childbirth begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at Heritage Park in Olympia. Information: improvingbirth.org.

Wednesday

Travelogues: By Boat to Bella Bella: In this interactive presentation that begins at 10:15 a.m. at the Olympia Senior Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, Llyn de Danaan talks about Native Americans, Japanese Americans and European Americans who have lived and worked on Oyster Bay and who helped to develop not only its shellfish industry, but also its living history. Sept. 11

First Responders celebration: Lacey Lions Clubs will honor local police and fire members with a celebration beginning at 10 a.m. at the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office station in Tumwater, at 7721 New Market St. SW; at 11 a.m. at the Lacey Police Dept., 420 College St. SE; and at noon at Lacey Fire District 3, 1231 Franz St. SE. There will be cakes, chili and proclamations from Gov. Jay Inslee.

Sept. 12

Olympia Garden Club plant sale: A wide variety of perennials, shrubs and succulents will be on sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Johnson’s Nursery, 7032 Spurgeon Creek Road SE, Olympia. Proceeds support student scholarships and horticultural grants for Thurston County teachers.

Sept. 17

League of Women Voters: The Thurston County League of Women Voters will host a free public forum on the TransPacific Partnership, at 6:30 pm, at the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW.
