New candy-making exhibit at fair
A new fair exhibit promises to feed the brain, as well as the sweet tooth.
It’s not quite Willy Wonka’s candy factory, but “Sweet! A Tasty Journey” will take fairgoers through the candy-making process.
Using vintage candy vending machines and factory equipment, the historical to current methods of candy production will be demonstrated.
It’s a fitting exhibit in a county that’s home to Brown and Haley (the Tacoma makers of Almond Roca), as well as the birthplace of the Mars candy empire.
Social and cultural aspects of the candy industry are explored as are the histories of industry inventors like Milton Hershey and Forrest Mars. The show has interactive displays and activities.
SWEET! A TASTY JOURNEY
