Classy comedy

The 12-time Tony Award-winning Broadway Show “The Producers” is making a stop at the Washington Center for Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. The Mel Brooks classic comedy film has been transformed into a stage play and features music and lyrics by Brooks. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show Saturday are $26-$86 and are available at 360-753-8586 and washingtoncenter.org.

Adrenaline surge

Featuring jaw-dropping bike jumps, kayak drops and incredible powder, the Radical Reels Tour, presented by The Banff Centre, pushes the boundaries of actions sports films. The 2016 edition is coming to Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia, for a 7 p.m. showing Friday (March 4). Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for Olympia Film Society members and Olympia Mountaineers. Get yours at the door or at olympiafilmfestival.org.

Mozart & more

The Olympia Chamber Orchestra brings together the winners of the annual Olympia Music Teacher’s Association piano competition and Steven Lovinger, concert master for its spring concert “Concertos and More.” It will feature the music of Mozart, Poulenc, Prokofiev and Paganini. The 7:30 p.m. performance is Saturday at the Minnaert Center for Performing Arts, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia. Tickets are $5-$20 and are available online at washingtoncenter.org or at the door.

Power portraits

The newest exhibit to open at Galerie Fotoland, The Evergreen State College, is “Bettina Hansen: Women in the Trades.” It showcases the strength, power and perseverance of Washington State women working in the trades, with vignettes by writer Susan Kelleher. Located in the first floor lobby of the Daniel J. Evans Library, 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW, Olympia, it will be on display Friday through April 27. It is open daily 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Fiery femmes

The Noel Coward play “Waiting in the Wings” combines pathos and comedy within a home for retired actresses. Presented by Olympia Little Theatre, it will be showing at 7:55 p.m. Friday -Saturday and 1:55 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $11-$15 and are available at olympialittletheatre.org or at Yenney Music, 2703 Capital Mall Drive SW, Suite 201. The theater is at 1925 Miller Ave. NE, Olympia.

Jeepers creepers

For those with an affinity for the absurd and creepy, Lacey Timberland Library, 500 College St. SE, is hosting “Welcome to Night Vale.” Based on the pop-culture phenomenon, the event invites guests to wear Night Vale attire, experience mysterious hooded figures, site the glow cloud and enjoy excerpts from the “Night Vale” novel. The 7-9 p.m. event Friday will also feature an open mic and Night Vale-themed poetry contest. For more information, call 360-401-3860.

Fun-time fiddlin’

With deep ties to American roots music, fiddler, singer and stepdancer April Verch knows the relevancy of old tunes. She’s bringing some new tunes, along with her traditional music, to a 7 p.m. performance Sunday at Traditions Café and World Folk Art, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia. Fairy scary

This month’s installation of “Words, Words, Words” with Theater Artists Olympia will feature selected readings of the original “Grimm’s Fairy Tales.” It’s will be two nights — Friday and Saturday — of readings featuring Grimm’s Briar Rose, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Rumplestiltskin, to name a few. Performances are 8 p.m. at the Midnight Sun Performance Space, 113 Columbia Ave. NW, Olympia. Tickets are $10 and are available online at olytheater.com/words
