Acoustic groove
Join in a celebration of collaboration and diverse acoustically driven music and artists of the Pacific Northwest at the annual Olympia Acoustic Festival. The headliner is David Bazan, with performances at the Eagles Ballroom, 805 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia. Tobias the Owl, Eleanor Murray, Paul Mauer and the Silence March to May and more will perform on the ballroom and lounge stages. Blintzapalooza is back!
Coming back after missing last year, Temple Beth Hatfloh’s Blintzapalooza, a fundraiser for local nonprofits, returns to Olympia 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers will be on hand to serve blintzes and bagels with lox and cream cheese, and there will be a used book sale 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. If you’re a cheesecake lover and make a mean one yourself, take part in the cooking/baking competition for the region’s tastiest cheesecake. Judging begins at 11 a.m., with the winners announced at 12:30 p.m. Temple Beth Hatfloh, 201 Eighth Ave. SE, Olympia.

Relay for Life dinner dance
The Mud Bay Blues band will be joined by George Barner and Lanny Slater at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life team dinner dance Saturday. The event will be at VFW Post 318, 2902 Martin Way E., Olympia. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner at 7 and the band performing at 8. Tickets are $25 each at the door, or can be purchased in advance by contact 360-280-3439.

Discussing dementia
Delving into the sensitive subjects of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, the Readers Theater Unlimited will be performing three one-act plays at the Lacey Timberland Library, 500 College St. SE, Olympia. The plays — “Steering into the Skid,” “In the Garden” and “Riding the Waves” — take a personal look at those engaged in the difficult journey. 3-5 p.m. Tuesday. Free. Come out to hear the talent of the Olympia Youth Chorus when it performs its spring concert, “I Sing Because I’m Happy.” The 7 p.m. concert Saturday is at The Washington Center for Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Triple play
South Puget Sound Community College will showcase the talents of its students this weekend. The College Orchestra, conducted by Chip Schooler, will feature soloist Anne Boska, cello, and Emma Richart, French horn, in a 7:30 p.m. concert Saturday at the Minnaert Center for Performing Arts, 2011 Mottman Road SW. Tickets are $5-$7. The College Chorus and Chamber Choir will be performing “Music of the Night,” under the direction of John Lehrack, in a 7:30 p.m. concert Sunday also at the Minnaert Center. Classic anime film with Q&A
Now considered a classic, the adult-oriented 1991 anime film “Only Yesterday” is a portrait of a woman’s place in Japanese society. Daisy Ridley provides the voice in the English version. The film will show 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia.
