Gavin DeGraw, Joe Jonas’ band DNCE added to fair concert lineup
Gavin DeGraw and pop sensation Joe Jonas with his band DNCE have been added to the concert schedule for this year’s Washington State Fair. DNCE is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14, while the DeGraw grandstand show will start at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20.
Jonas, who gained fame as part of the Jonas Brothers, was inspired by the sounds of Earth, Wind & Fire, and Hall & Oates when he created DNCE last summer. Rounding out the band are guitarist JinJoo Lee, bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle, and drummer Jack Lawles.
Also taking the stage that night will be hip-hop artist LunchMoney Lewis. A native of Miami, Lewis comes from a musical family. His father Roger and his uncle Ian were founding members of the reggae band Inner Circle, according to a fair news release.
DeGraw gained attention with his first hit “I Don’t Want to Be.” Part of his debut album, the song became the theme song for the TV show “One Tree Hill.” DeGraw went on to appear on the show four times, including the series’ finale. The 39-year-old’s hit single “Not Over You” reached No. 1 on the Hot AC chart and was certified double platinum. In 2014, DeGraw’s “We Both Know” was nominated for a Grammy for best song written for visual media.
Opening for DeGraw will be Andy Grammer, the son of children’s performer Red Grammer. From his 2011 self-titled debut album, Grammer became the first male pop star in a decade, since John Mayer in 2002, to reach the Top 10 at Adult Pop Radio on his first two singles, according to the release.
Tickets for the DeGraw-Grammer concert are $43-$65 and $28-$55 for the DNCE-Lewis show. Tickets for both performances will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Tickets for any of the concerts can be purchased at thefair.com, 888-559-3247 7 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, and at the Washington State Fair’s box office at Ninth Avenue Southwest and Meridian Street 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
