Dance, singalong to ‘Purple Rain’
In a tribute to Prince, join in the “Let’s Go Crazy: Purple Rain Singalong and Dance Party” at Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. Hosted by DJ Luvva J, the night includes a costume contest and the Mezzanine Lounge will be open. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Friday (June 3). Tickets are $9, $6 for Olympia Film Society members.

‘Life is Complicated’ at OLT
Come out for the latest production by Olympia Little Theater, “Life is Complicated.” Written by local playwright Kendra Leanne Malm, the play follows a single professional woman in her 40s and her free-spirited friend. Showtimes are 7:55 p.m. Thursday, June 10-11, plus 1:55 p.m. June 12. Tickets are $7 and available at olympialittletheater.org or Yenny Music.

Talking and walking about bats
Learn everything there is to know about the Townsends big-eared bat when the Stream Team, with local bat expert Greg Falxa, hosts a Bat Walk and Talk on Friday (June 3). Jazz musicians at Traditions
Jazz guitarist John Stowell and jazz vocalist Anandi Gefroh will be joining forces to perform in an 8 p.m. concert Saturday. Come to Traditions Café and World Folk Art, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia, and enjoy a night of great music. Tickets are $15, $10 students and low income. 360-705-2819.

Delve into the world of comic books
With an emphasis on independent, creator-owned comics, the Olympia Comics Festival comes Saturday to four venues in Olympia. Different from the large commercial comicons, this is an alternative comics event with an emphasis on creativity and personal expression. It kicks off with a preview night at the Olympia Timberland Regional Library, 313 Eighth Ave. SE, Olympia, and continues through Sunday. Comedy in an intimate setting
Get your laugh on at this month’s installment of Comedy in the Box at the Washington Center Black Box, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. The cabaret-style seating puts you right in the middle of the show. There will be two opening acts plus the headliner for the 21-and-older show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Healing, Hope and Harvest at Capitol Theater
The South Sound Veterans Partnership will present Healing, Hope and Harvest, featuring short films created by local veterans. The event will include a question-and-answer session after the showing. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the films begin at 5 at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. Album release event at Rhythm & Rye
Join in the fun at the album release show at Rhythm & Rye, 311 Capitol Way N., Olympia. The night will feature Redwood Son, Bart Budwigs Amperband and Vaudeville Etiquette.
